Chemical spill response

Contain the spread
Ring the spill with absorbent from the outside in.
Step 3 / 6VOICE · ON
IN ONE LINE
Alert, protect, contain, clean — a small spill stays small only if you act in that order.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Run the alert–protect–contain–clean sequence under pressure.
Decide when a spill is yours to handle and when to evacuate.
Use a spill kit and dispose of residue correctly.
READ THE LESSON
Small versus large
A small spill is one you can handle with your kit, your PPE and no risk to breathing. Anything bigger, toxic by vapour, or unknown is an evacuate-and-call situation.
Contain from the edges
Working from the outside inward stops the spill growing while you absorb it. Never push absorbent through the middle and chase it outward.
The residue is still waste
Absorbed chemical is hazardous waste, not trash. Collect it in a labelled bag, note what it was, and route it to proper disposal.
Decision
If the spill threatens your breathing or is bigger than your training, leave and raise the alarm. No cleanup is worth an exposure.
